For some reason, I could not get the Asus motherboard’s audio working with Ubuntu 8.04 “Hardy”, despite all my efforts, so I decided to go ahead and put 9.04 “Jaunty” on Hitagi, and what do you know? It works great now. I would rather have had an OS that would be supported for longer (Jaunty will be supported through October 2010, while Hardy will be supported until April 2011), but then again, if it doesn’t work with my hardware, those extra six months of support don’t mean much.

Hitagi: The Build, Part II

Hitagi: The Build
Posted by Doug on September 12, 2009
I ordered the parts for Hitagi today from Newegg. Here is the list of parts I’ll be using:
Processor: I didn’t go with the AMD Phenom II X4 955. Instead I decided to save a little money (about $40) by going with the Phenom II X4 810, which is only a 2.6 GHz quad-core as opposed to the 955 (3.2 GHz). I think the 810 will more than suffice for my purposes, given that Hitagi isn’t intended to be a gaming computer.

And I Name Her “Hitagi”
Posted by Doug on September 12, 2009
I’m planning on building a new computer. If all goes well, it will be completed within the week. I have decided to name the new computer “Hitagi”, after Senjōgahara Hitagi, the tsundere female lead from Bakemonogatari.
